It all started when King Joe started to label the paper sleeve of his 7" collection with titles of the records so that he can easily distinguish them in the dark while DJing. Gradually, the titles started to develop into colorful illustrations. And before he knew it, he had over 200 singles covered with his original drawings inspired from the music. We have selected 96 from the 200 and compiled them into a book. Drawn with Posca Markers, these intense, funny, erotic, spontaneous yet carefully composed illustrations are full of the strong primitive energy of King Joe.
Witness his 96 drops of tears, sweat and saliva. . . his pure passion and love for the music!
Includes commentary on all the 96 singles by the artist, and foreword by the award-winning talented and controversial young writer of present-day Japan, Masaya Nakahara, and also, interview of the artist.
